PROVISION OF INFORMATION SERVICES

Provision of Information Services

Description: This is a scenario-driven report of what materials to acquire for a library catalog, given certain budget and topic constraints. The scenario chosen is that a donor has offered my library unlimited funds to purchase a select number of Korean War materials. It exemplifies decision making regarding catalog acquisitions, development, and management.

Analysis: As with most of my projects, the framework laid out is comprehensive and realistic, as I draw from my real-life experiences at The Daniel Library. The process undertaken shows well-rounded efforts to locate the best materials to suit the donor and library's needs. This includes development into why certain materials are best suited over others in similar cases.

Reflection: This was the the first assignment that allowed me to pull directly from My Citadel experience, and it shows. The university presented mirrors many of The Citadel's programs and organizations. It was also the first assignment that gave me inspiration to continue a career in the academic library sector as well as archives.
